My love of Kyran grows with each book. He is so tortured in his mind. He loves Marjorie and yet he is afraid of the love. He is afraid of hurting her due to the curse. The curse Marjorie may be able to cure.This book picks up where secrets of the moon ends. Marjorie is in the hospital and Kyran and his family are trying to keep her safe and figure out who is behind what is going on. As they are trying to find this out more danger moves in. The alpha is turning more and creating more savage betas. Kyran is fighting his affliction and himself. A battle over his love for Marjorie and keeping her safe. His family is now at the point of wanting to tell her everything and Kyran is afraid. He is afraid of overwhelming her and losing her. About this time a stranger who is powerful comes to town and wants to align with Kyran and his family. He loves Kyran like we all do. You cannot pick up this series and not love Kyran. He is struggling so much and wanting so much to protect Marjorie from others and himself. He is feeling so lost because his family doesn’t trust him fully and makes him feel guilt like we can never know. He is willing to sacrifice himself for marjorie and the new alpha in town sees Kyran for what he is-strong, smart and should be a alpha. He doesn’t see what others sees but what is truly there lurking in the shadows of Kyran’s being.
More is revealed about Marjorie and who she is and we see Kyran fight his affliction more. He tries to gain control over it. He also realizes that he loves Marjorie and can’t let her go. Their bonding is becoming stronger and the pull for each other is insatiable. I fear for when Marjorie learns of the bonding. I hope she sees Kyran is really in love with her and will sacrifice everything for her.
Kyran’s family has you feel more and more for them. They are close knit and yet not completely honest with each other. They hold back in front of Kyran. This makes him feel inadequate and like he isn’t really a part of the dynamic. It eats away at him and creates a vacuum of guilt in him that has him question himself more.
As the fight begins to keep Marjorie safe we see some fighting for the upperhand, posturing for position and seeing the other’s weaknesses and alliances being formed. This is a fast paced, action packed story about Kyran and his struggle with himself and his need to keep Marjorie safe. A story about his family and their need and duty to help Marjorie and tell her the truth and the stranger in town helping them in this war that is about to begin.
